Bersamaan dengan perilisan tersebut, band asal New York ini juga mengumumkan jadwal rilis untuk album studio ketujuh mereka yang bertajuk Reality Awaits yang telah lama dinantikan.
Album Reality Awaits digarap dengan sentuhan produksi dari Rick Rubin, sosok produser legendaris yang dikenal atas kiprahnya dalam mengerjakan berbagai proyek besar lintas genre. Sebelumnya, Rick Rubin juga terlibat dalam produksi karya-karya dari band metal ternama seperti Metallica dan Slayer. Hal ini semakin menambah ekspektasi tinggi terhadap kualitas musikal dari album terbaru The Strokes ini.
