Lagu ini menggabungkan permainan gitar yang kasar dengan pola ritmis repetitif dan vokal Joe Casey yang terdengar berat serta penuh tekanan.

Seperti banyak karya Protomartyr lainnya, lagu ini menggunakan bahasa yang cenderung simbolis dan dipenuhi gambaran suram. Pendekatan tersebut membuat makna Feed the Sewer tidak hadir dalam satu tafsir tunggal, melainkan terbuka untuk berbagai interpretasi.
Kesan gelap yang dibangun melalui musik dan lirik membuat lagu ini terasa seperti refleksi terhadap kehidupan yang tidak selalu berjalan ramah. Ada tekanan, kekacauan, dan situasi yang memaksa manusia berhadapan dengan sisi paling kasar dari kehidupan.
