Nominasi BAFTA Awards 2023 Diumumkan

KEJUTAN terjadi saat nominasi untuk British Academy Film Awards atau BAFTA Awards 2023 diumumkan, Kamis (19/1). Dari 24 kategori di dalam penghargaan ini, film All Quiet on the Western Front memimpin dengan perolehan 14 nominasi.

Seperti dilansir CNN, film adaptasi novel Perang Dunia I karya Erich Maria Remarque itu merupakan film berbahasa Jerman yang tayang di Netflix. Meski ketika pertama kali tayang pada musim gugur tahun lalu minim woro-woro, film besutan Edward Berger ini mendapat sambutan hangat di ajang penghargaan dunia.

Film lain yang jadi pesaing besar yakni The Banshees of Inisherin yang meraih 10 nominasi, termasuk nominasi untuk Colin Farrell dan aktor pendukung Kerry Condon, Brendan Gleeson, dan Barru Keoghan. Dengan jumlah nominasi sama, film indie Everything Everywhere All At Once juga jadi salah satu yang dijagokan.

Sementara itu, film Korea Decision to Leave mendapat dua nominasi, yakni untuk kategori sutradara terbaik dan film berbahasa asing terbaik.

Sutradara Park Chan-woo, seperti diungkap Soompi, telah dua kali nemerima nominasi BAFTA. Sebelumnya, ia memenangi BAFTA di 2018 untuk kategori film berbahasa asing terbaik lewat film The Handmaiden. Kategori yang sama juga dimenangi Bong Joon-ho lewat Parasite pada 2020.

Tahun ini, ajang BAFTA, yang memberikan penghargaan bagi karya film Inggris dan internasional, akan digelar di London’s Royal Festival Hall pada 19 Februari. Aktor Richard E Grant akan menjadi host untuk acara tersebut.
